HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Pride Month began Sunday morning by honoring Native Hawaiian culture and history in Waikīkī.
The day started with a traditional sunrise chant and prayer at the Healer Stones of Kapaemahu, honoring the four legendary māhū healers connected to the sacred site.
Afterward, the community gathered at Queen’s Beach for food, games and music.
Pride Month events run from Oct. 14-18, including the Honolulu Pride Parade by the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation on Oct. 17.
The parade will feature bold floats, uplifting performances and powerful voices in a high-energy march down Kalākaua Avenue, starting at 3 p.m.
